Retweet if you’d save this car:

Haven’t we reached the point where all Charger VINs are worth saving?

I’m not the one to ask - my uncle Barry had a ‘68 that I fell hard for ....

Charger VIN + reproduction body = $$$

Pretty sure that the R/T came with a 440 as the ‘base’ engine, too, so this one is a no brainer—

How much of that bodywork do they reproduce? Camaros and mustangs is a done deal, mopar parts are a lot less common.

A decent amount, I know they do front & rear valances, quarter panels, rockers, trunk floors, sail panels, floor panels, inner fenders, and cowls.
But, nowhere near everything you’d need to fix that - I don’t believe anyone does trunk lids, hoods, or doors.

I think Auto Metal Direct does hoods, trunk lids, and doors.

I almost bought one in simular shape to this one last summer... I was going to turn it into a hobby stock dirt track car...
it was 2k and the only salvageable part was the vin... I still regret not jumping on it

Neat, so between what they’ve got and what Sherman Parts has, the sheet metal is probably covered. Chrysler stuff is always a little harder, but you figure the Charger is at least iconic enough.

Yeah, Chargers and E-bodies are probably good to go. Other Mopars? I wouldn’t bet on it.

Nope. Looks like you can get underbody pressings and frame stuff for Coronets, that’s just thanks to the Charger. If you’ve got a Duster or an early Barracuda, have fun in the junkyard.
Of course, they still have it way easier than the AMC owners.

Could probably use the originals for carbon fiber templates.

And yet you are unmarred by the money you would have spent ... a good decision.

Correct. For the second gen (‘68-’70), the R/T was either the 440 4bl or the 426 Hemi, except in 1970 when the 440 6-pack was also an option.

Pretty much - still, I’d put it up in the air and see what the damage is ... you’d restore something like that not for profit, but for love.

Yeah, you’d have to sink .... 20, maybe 25 grand into it to be as good as new? Maybe more. It’s a labot of love, for sure.
